Organization knowledge provides an understanding of the management system and business structure of the enterprise.
Organization knowledge includes an understanding of how the business makes profits, achieves its objectives, its organizational system, the associations that exist between business units, and the people who occupy key stakeholder positions.
Organization knowledge also includes an understanding the organization’s formal and informal communication mediums as well as a consciousness of the internal politics that impact decision making.
There are some measures of effective organization knowledge which include the following :
- The ability to behave according to informal and formal communications channels.
- An understanding the terminology used in the organization.
- An understanding of the products and services provided by the organization.
- The ability to recognize subject matter experts (SMEs) in the organization.
- The ability to steer organizational connections and politics.
