To effectively apply the values and practices of the Agile methodology, the business analysts need to have a particular mindset.
These Agile values and principles are aligned with the Agile Manifesto which is focused on product development as a process which is built on communication and collaboration.
In embracing the agile mindset and philosophy, the business analyst
would develop competencies in the following areas:
• Communication and collaboration: this is the ability to communicate the sponsor’s vision and needs; influence other people so that they would support that vision; participate and potentially support the negotiation of priorities; and support collaborative agreement on solution outcomes.
• Patience and tolerance: this is the ability to keep calm under pressure and have an open mind when interacting with others.
• Flexibility and adaptability: this is the ability to support other team members in their tasks.
• Ability to handle change: this is the ability to rapidly estimate the effect of
change and maintain, the backlog list.
• Ability to recognize business value: this is the ability to understand how
changes and new features can help attain business value and support the
vision.
• Continuous improvement: this is a regular agile team review on how to make the team become more effective.
