What is Trello ?

Trello is a project management tool that is used by organizations to collaborate and organize their work.

It allows you to manage your projects and initiatives by splitting the work into columns in a board.

These boards can show you what is being worked on, who is working on it, and what stage it is in the process all in one glance.

This helps to simplify and standardize your work by allowing you to break complex projects into smaller more manageable and achievable pieces of work.

So what exactly is a Trello board?

A Trello board is similar to a whiteboard which is covered with sticky notes.

Each of those sticky notes are used to represent a piece of work.

This board can be used to collate all information relevant to the project in a single place.

These information includes images, emails, documents and task updates.

The boards can be split into columns based on the type of project or initiative that you are working on.

It board can be split into columns based on the different stages in a product development process such as idea generation, idea screening, concept development, and testing, building a market strategy, product development, market testing, and market commercialization.

It can also be split into columns based on the Agile methodology such as backlog, active, QA/UAT, demo and done.

Or stages in a project such as Definition, initiation, planning, execution, monitoring & control and closure.

Once the board is split into columns, then cards can be added to them which contain any pertinent information related to the project task that you are working on.

So what is a card ?

A card is the smallest testable piece of assigned work. Examples include adding a new webpart to a Sharepoint site, creating a new report and setting up a windows task scheduler on a windows server.

These cards can be assigned to the development team members and moved from one column to another based on the stage in the process which it is in.
